Google/Nest wifi combo - optimal mesh order

We have greatly appreciated our Google wifi network for years!  Our house is (2) stories plus a basement.  We currently have the router and (2) additional points, one on both above ground floors.  These supply decent wifi to multiple tv's, Xboxes, iPads, and Ring cameras.  However, things are buffering and glitching a bit more recently and I can no longer receive wifi signal in locations that I have in the past.  I plan to add additional mesh points in hope of resolving these issues.  So...

Will incorporating the Nest wifi system provide more improvement than simply increasing the number of standard Google wifi points?

If I order the Nest wifi pods and integrate them with the Google wifi pods, what order of placement will provide optimal signal?  From what I've read on this site it seems a Nest router should replace the Google router; thus, utilizing it as an additional wifi point somewhere else in the mesh.  Resetting/reinstalling/remapping the network from there (the Nest router), which product should be placed next, which product after that one, and the next?

Hi Kimnsc,

Thanks for posting.

The idea that you have is great, especially if you want to integrate our mesh Wi-Fi system into your home. What Google/Nest routers or points do you have in mind? Nest Wifi routers have their own WAN (Wide Area Network) and LAN (Local Area Network) ports that you can connect via cable. If you want to expand the connection, you can do a Wi-Fi connection and/or a wired connection. It would be best to have more information before you decide. See this very helpful guide to give you a hand: Set up Google Nest Wifi.

Hope this message takes you home.

Best,

Dan
