Google Nest wifi point not connecting to network

Vaelor

I have recently set up a Google Nest network, but I found that my connection was dropping out several times per day for a split second each time. I contacted my ISP's tech support and they suggested factory resetting my Nest devices, which I did. Since then, I have not been able to reconnect my wifi point to my network. The Google Home app detects the point and sets it up fine, but when it tries to add the point to my wifi network, I get a screen that says "Adding Wifi point to your Wi-Fi network", which just spins endlessly and never connects.

Could somebody please help me get my wifi node reconnected to my network, and then assist me with troubleshooting my intermittent connection dropout issue? Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same issue after resetting.

I'm experiencing this exact same issue. I factory reset both the Nest Wifi router and the point via the app first, then the physical reset button. Network setup went well. I waited until white flashing light on the bottom of the Nest Wifi point, tried to add to the network, but got to the "Adding Wifi point to your Wi-Fi network" message like the above users and it never advanced from here. Endless animation, white pulsing light on the Nest point, no audio from the point.

Response I got from Google tech support after 2 hours on the phone "Hello Peter. We really apologize for any inconvenience on your end. However, we are facing this issue right now. The Engineering team still working on this one. For the meantime, I will just update you through email if I already have the information from them. But no need to worry, I will update you as soon as possible if the Engineering team already fix the issue. 23:36:57 Em- Technical Senior Support: I will keep you updated if we identify any additional troubleshooting steps for this issue. I will notify you via email. Is that okay with you?

I am having this issue too. I have been trying to do this for the last 3 weeks.

This is basically what happened to me, although I was only on the phone for maybe 15 minutes instead of 2 hours. But they told me the same thing - this is a known issue which has been escalated to the engineering team, and they'll keep me updated via email. 😐

I was unfortunate and had to be with them for 2 hours too. There is no SLA to resolve this situation. It is extremely annoying not being able to finish the configuration due to an internal issue.

Hi Vaelor,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your Google Nest Wifi point is not connecting to the network, and I'm happy to assist you!

Before I can proceed, I need to ask a few questions to better understand the situation:

  • Do you use a modem and router combo?
  • Are you using the same network name and password as your previous network?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Hi Manuel,

Thanks for responding to my thread. When I set up the Nest I removed my old router. My Nest is now connected directly to my NBN box, and to a four port ethernet switch that my desktop PCs are connected to. I changed the network name when setting up the Nest but am using the same password used by my previous network.

I have an ongoing email thread with Senior Tech Support and they have told me that updating the Google Home app to the latest version will fix the problem, but there is no version newer than the one I have (14 Jan 2025) available on the Play Store and my problem persists.

Thanks again for your time.
