Google Wi-Fi DSL Compatibility

I have a Greenwave C4000BG modem/router combo through CenturyLink setup with DSL. I have been unable to get Google Wi-Fi to connect by setting up Transparent Bridging. Is the router/modem compatible and if so, what’s the proper way to set up?

Could they (the ISP) be using VLAN tags? Found this comment:

Google Nest Wifi does not support that very well:

This can be worked around by using a managed switch between the ISP box and the primary/ first Google Nest Wifi puck to untag the VLAN.

What happens if you connect a PC by ethermet cable to that same port you plugged the Nest Wifi into when the modem/router is bridged, does it get an internet connection?

I don't work for Google.
