Recently i bought 5 google wifi pro 6e devices.
The were purchased as indicated 6e is better and less congested. The idea was to be able to leverage the 6e wifi with my quest 3 and steam link. This Kinda works... after replacing the original google wifi (worked great) the 6e started acting ... odd... My setup:
1.My house i have 1 located where my Spectrum Cable modem is located. This one is hardwired with ethernet from the modem.
2. Then in the living room i have another which is roughly 12 feet away.
3. Bedroom 12 feet away from the living room.
4. Is in my detached garage that is around 14 feet away from the 1st puck that is connected directly to the cable modem.
5. i have the last one in my office that is 15 feet from the 4th one in the garage.
Same basic locations as the original Google wifi.
I do/did have aNetgear Gigabit switch that was connected to the 1st puck that had a hardwired cable running from my office in the garage directly to the netgear. I removed this as i felt it was possible causing some issues with ip addressing.
I also have multiple TP-Link AV1300 at a couple of locations.
I took the main TPlink that has 3 ports and:
1. plugged an ethernet cable from it to Google puck number one.
2. Took my office ethernet run and plugged it into the TPlink.
the other Tplinks are located
1. In the living room at my Samsung tv hardwired.
2. In the bedroom Hardwired to that Samsung tv as well.
3. In my garage wired to my HDHOMErun tv tunner
4. In my garage wired to my server hosting Plex.
5. Office hardwired to Security DVR.
My symptoms.
1. My kids are all complaining when watching videos on their phones or Tv's of frequent pausing and or buffering that never occurred prior to the upgrade.
2. Randomly Phones will indicate they are unable to get an ip address from the Wifi.
3. Living room TV CANNOT Play 4k. it buffers every 4 seconds to the point its un barrable. i have set it to auto and it scales down the resolution at times where its pixely.
4. Different Pucks indicate they are offline randomly.
My trouble shooting.
1. i removed the netgear thinking maybe it was causing some collisions with the ips..
- i dont think this did anything.
2. 30+ times i have restarted the whole mesh network.
- Sometimes this resolves the issues.
3. Disconnect the phone wifi and reconnect. (happens to more than one phone at a time)
- This dosent resolve any issues.
4. switched my Main tv from hard wired connect to wifi and vis versa...
- this did not help the inability to run youtube at 4k.
My Internet speeds are as follows:
Download speed: 429
Upload Speed: 24.9
Honestly ive only had the system for maybe 30 days. I burned the boxes they came in ... this was stupid as i really wish i could return these. They Are Running worse than the original google wifi (ran fine)
I still have the Original system and its been so bad that everyone wants me to put that back in place...
This was a very expensive purchase to work so Poorly. Can Anyone help me out here. I'm very IT inclined.
