How can I login into my cable modem without disconnecting the nest wifi router and physically connect my laptop to the modem?
I don't want rest of the devices to disconnect from the internet while I check connection on cable modem.
Cable modem has internal private IP that is different than the network used by Nest Wifi so I have to disconnect router and connect my laptop to check modem.
Thanks

Jeff,
Thanks for following up. Since I only needed to do this couple of times while working with ISP, I disconnected the Google Nest router and connected my laptop directly to the modem.

Get a small network switch and some patch cables, and put it between the modem and the Nest.

Thanks Jeff and kiltguy2112, I was hoping for some setup in google nest router that will allow me to connect to the private IP for the cable modem. I was avoiding adding a switch between modem and router. Currently I am seeing lots of uncorrectable errors in the modem, ISP replaced the drop cable and I want to monitor it. It seems too much work and spend money for short term monitoring.
Thanks

Hey shahhe,
I just wanted to follow up and see if you were able to get things working or to see if you were still working with the ISP. If you're still trying to get things to a working state, let me know if there's more I can help with on this.
Thanks,
Jeff

Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
