Inconsistent Mesh Tests

This has been happening on a regular basis, at least several times a week.  The most recent occurrence happened this afternoon.  Devices start lagging and losing connections.  I run a mesh test and see this:

So, I restarted the network and got this:

Restarted the network a second time and got this:

A couple more restarts produced similar results until about the 5th restart, I got this:

Any idea why this has been happening?  It's becoming a pain to have to reboot my network almost daily.

Almost for sure interference of some sort that is intermittent.   Saying this.. what is the layout of your network..is the router in the most central location, or are some of the points daisy chained?

My Nest router is centrally located in my dining room.  I have a nest access point in my garage, one in my kitchen, one in a bedroom and one in the Master bedroom.  This should give me good coverage, and when everything is working correctly, it does.  Until this starts happening again.  My house was built in the early 1970's and I have plaster walls.  I've long suspected that the plaster walls might be the source of my wifi woes.

Yep 70s plaster I'm convinced has supernatural abilities to block signals.  How far apart is each point from the main router, as they will always prefer the shortest number of hops.  Also is there anything behind the walls that you are aware of that could cause issues, such as copper pipes, duct work, wiring, etc ?  Is the router located away from other interference, such as large stereo speakers or wireless devices ?

I'm not sure what's behind the walls.  It might be a metal lath, which could explain a whole lot.  Most of my points are probably 30-40 feet away from the main router.  I've moved points and routers around to see if different spots would give me different results, but nothing to get excited about.  Right now, the router is located away from just about anything that could interfere with it.  I was originally using the Google Wifi router and points and then upgraded to see if the Nest router and points would make a difference.  Needless to say...

Any way to move them to 20 feet ish ?  That's about the distance of mine with great solid connections..I know may be finicky but would be a good test

I'll give that a try and see how it goes.

Hey, nickp001.

I just wanted to check in to see if you were able to give Ashepherdson's suggestion a try and to see if that worked out for you. If you're still needing some help on this, just let me know and I'll be happy to jump in as well.

Thanks!

I tried moving the router around the house, but still encountering the same results.

Hey, nickp001.

It's been a while since we touched base. Are you still seeing the same issues with your mesh tests? Has anything changed at all? Let me know where things stand on this.

Thanks.

No change for me.  I ended up ditching my Nest WiFi setup and going with the Asus ax xt8 WiFi 6 setup.  It's only been a couple of days, but wifi speeds are amazing, configuration options are numerous and things are much easier to troubleshoot.  I've identified 1 "dead spot" in my house where devices keep dropping.  I've ordered a second node and will fine tune placement of my router and nodes when it arrives.  With any luck, this will put an end to my wifi woes.  I definitely have fewer problems now with my Asus setup than I did with Nest.

Sorry we weren't able to get the Nest WiFi working out for you, nickp001, but I'm happy to hear that you found something that's working better for your situation. If you need anything else, let me know.

Thanks.
