Intermitent slow speeds

I am experiencing a large drop off in speed from the first nest to the second and third.   My first nest is testing 555mps and then when I do a speed test for wifi it drops to 176mps.  I know there should be a small drop but there are times it drops to 50mps or less.  the modem is stable and there is no recorded drop off.

How are you running the speed tests (i.e. what device, how connected, etc.)?

Speed tests are testing the speed of the device the test is being run from and not the network speed. It will vary constantly depending on the traffic on your ISP's external network and sometimes due to hardware limitations with the device the test is running on. The network speed is run from the Google Home app and tests the Nest Wifi itself. There are a lot of things that can cause differences in speed on your network for the same device depending on how it is setup and configured. The below article should help with further explanation:

If you want to see the internal network traffic speed, in the Google Home app go to the Devices tab under Wifi, select the device, and scroll to the bottom; there's a button to test the actual network speed and the internal speed from the router to the device.
