Mesh router speed

SadFace
Community Member

Mac laptop, OS Sonoma 14.5; Motorola MB8600; Google mesh model H2D. This is all my equipment, not provided/leased from ISP - the Platform required above doesn't give option for OSX.

Speed test on Mac show 60-90 mbps (I'm paying for up to 500mbps). ISP company says (of course) it's not their equipment, but suspect it is the Google router. I have disconnected/connected modem and router; the ISP rebooted modem from their side. I used google home app to do speed test of router and it shows as 496/53.

I have one node plugged in and when I view it in Home app, says great connection.

SO WHY AM I GETTING 1/10th of the speed I'm paying for? My laptop is 6 feet from the router node. The tech from the ISP suggested to remove the router and reset to factory settings, then set it up as new, which seems extreme, since the speed test on the Home app looks good.

I'm somewhat comfortable with tech issues, but not really knowledgeable. Can someone please give me some help?

Hi SadFace,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I'm really sorry that you have poor speed on your mesh system. This could be frustrating since you paid for high speed from your ISP and it doesn't work. But not to worry; help's here.

Please follow this article to improve your network performance with mesh connections. There are a few options to try and links to test your mesh connectivity.

Let me know if you need more assistance.

Regards.
