Mesh setup for 2.4 , 5 & 6

How to setup 2.4 network in your house without stepping away from your house.

Specifically adding smart lights etc that only work on 2.4.  When you walk off your property then asks if you see a light blink time you step back on your property and not enough time to finish setting up and the lovely mesh will go to 5 and you can't setup items.

Please have make a feature standard that your guests can use.  Lead by example you are Google.

I found the solution thanks to the link.

What really worked for me specifically for my android device was.  I went into my setting and placed my phone as “hot spot” and it went to the 2.4 network no problem at all.  Then to setup the light, it took maybe (2) minutes if that.

Thank you so much for taking that time to send me the information and I’ll pass this best practice along to friends if they ever require this.

I don't work for Google.

Hey folks,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, @Frenchcook78. I'm glad that you got your smart devices connected to your WiFi network's 2.4 GHz now using @olavrb's suggestion. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Regards,
Lovely

Hello,

Thank you for the information you have shared.  I have done this by standing outside of my house, trying to place on the 2.4 network the “smart light”.

See my thing is, there are engineers that think of 2.4, 5 and now 6 as for the band.  What would be an excellent selling feature that if Google Mesh can do is……. Since they can figure out how to make all these different bands etc.  Should have a feature that you can do on the "backend" on the application and place certain items on what ever band you want.  This is 2023.  It gets cold when you must stand outside of your house trying to watch threw the window and see if the light flickers, then wait for it to get onto your network when its winter outside.  In 2023, why is there a need to “walk away” to get a different signal.  Other then this hurdle, the mesh is great for Wi-Fi I will give it that.

Hey Frenchcook78,

I'm happy you got your devices connected, though it looked to be a bit of a runaround for you. Your suggestion to be able to toggle bands is something others have suggested as well, and I can pass those comments along to our internal teams in the form of a feature request. Aside from submitting that request, is there anything else I can do for you at this time?

Thanks,
Jeff
