I've bought some smart home kit that only works on a 2.4 GHz network and I can't find a way to connect my Pixel Pro 6 to the 2.4 GHz version of my Nest Wifi in order to configure the devices.
I saw some advice saying that a guest network would be 2.4 GHz only, but having set one up, I seems that's not the case - I got another 2.4 GHz connection.
So how do I force a connection to the slower network?
Cheers,
Dave...

I have a handful of Google light bulbs that want to use the Genie app to set up, I had to put them in pairing mode, then go downstairs and outside to get out of the 5g range and the app would then connect to them, and get them connected to the 2.4 network. I now use the Tuya app which works way better than the Google apps at finding and working with all the smart home things, and I don't have to do all that exercise anymore. It's way easier than all the resetting that Google help will have you trying

Hey folks,
Appreciate your helpful responses, @grundlestain.
@davorg, chiming in to ensure everything is good here. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?
Best,
Mel

I didn't try the solution above as it's clearly ridiculous. I don't know why Google doesn't let my phone choose which waveband to connect to.
But it turned out that there's another method you can use with my smart home kit - where the kit creates its own access point and you connect the phone to that. That method worked find.

Hey davorg,
I'm glad to see that you found a workaround. As for controlling the 5GHz/2.4GHz bands, the Nest and Google WiFi mesh networks work a little differently than other WiFi systems. While most other networks create two bands that function almost as two different networks with separate IDs and passwords, the Nest/Google systems broadcast both bands simultaneously with the same ID and password. In the majority of situations, devices will connect to the appropriate band for their requirements. At times certain devices have issues connecting and we do need to find a workaround. I'm happy you found a method to connect, but I apologize if the process was frustrating.
As you found a resolution to the issue, I wanted to see if there's anything else you might need before marking this as resolved. If so, just let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff
