Nest Mesh Network Wireless Wan Configuration

Drew5316

My mother has a T-mobile home internet modem. She finds it gets better reception in the living room, rather than the home office with the Nest Mesh Network is attached to mulitiple devices (both wireless and wired).

I've set up a $25 Trendnet router using wireless wan to an ISP for a friend of mine. Can we do the same thing with the Nest Mesh Network router?

Essentially, I want to have the T-mobile home internet modem send a WiFi signal to the Nest Mesh Network router and have router use the T-mobile wireless as a wireless WAN.

...Or do we have to just put the router into bridge mode? I'm assuming we can shut down the modem's DHCP server and just have the Nest router be the DHCP router on the network.

Thanks!

Drew

The primary/main Nest Wifi unit must be fed an internet connection through an ethernet cable. It can not wirelessly extend a different network. More on that:

If the modem has RJ-45 port(s): Great. If it can be bridged too: Even better. More on why to avoid double NAT:

Thank you, Olavrb.

I'm guessing we'll need to buy another nest puck, move the puck into the office & the nest router out next to T-Mobile router.

Set the T-Mobile router to bridged mode, and plug into the nest router with an Ethernet cable.

Thanks, @LovelyM

Kind of frustrating that Nest doesn't support Wireless WAN configurations. I suppose it's just as easy to get a cheap wireless access point and drop it in between the T-Mobile modem and Nest router.
