Hi!
Our network is segmented (by VLAN) into a section for each space (totaling 2) on the property and the space monitored by the Nest experienced a periodic outage through the space of about an hour. Devices running in the side closer to the origin router seemed to have no problem. All devices on the Nest VLAN -- including my PC hardlined straight to the origin nest -- all cut in and out through this time.
As best I can tell, the nest network has prioritization on the origin router and the network is otherwise pretty simple.
This has happened twice in the past week but the networks have otherwise been maintaining consistent uptime through the past couple of years (barring actual full-network disruptions.)
I thought maybe the Nest system had run an unscheduled speed test or firmware update, but I don't know how to look that up. (See my other post.)

You might have better luck with a managed/smart switch between the modem and Nest Wifi to untag VLAN before it hits Nest Wifi:
Nest Wifi has some support for VLANs, but only a few tags is supported:
So it might make sense with more specialized hardware for untagging VLAN, than having Nest Wifi doing it? Worth a try IMO.

Hey all!
Thanks for the responses! For whatever reason I didn't receive notifications and just happened to notice the most recent update when checking my email.
I do have a managed switch handling the WiFi and core network in... Let's say zone 1 ... before the VLAN for the Nest WiFi gets broken off to manage the outbuilding (zone 2.) The point was just to create a kind of DMZ so smart devices in the two areas didn't see each other.
I'm not sure what I can be doing to fix this but I haven't managed to recreate the issue on demand, either, so it's been difficult to experiment with fixes.
Thanks (and sorry)

Hi!
Tonight, by all accounts, I'm looking at about 1.5 MBPS download speed from a ~300 MBPS connection. Again, no idea what's really going on on the other end.
There have been no indications in the past that the cabling has any issues, but I'll be trying to rule that out sometime next week -- won't take super long to test it, I just don't have the ability with what I have here.
Thanks,
Aaron
