Nest WiFi Pro blocking/breaking certain websites

dbelk80

For several months now, I have noticed that certain websites will not work/break while I'm connected to my Nest WiFi Pro. I will get an error or the website will eventually just fail to load. I can get the websites to work if I use a VPN, connect to my phone's WIFI hotspot, or bypass the nest router by connecting directly to my cable modem. It's odd that it seems to be random websites but typically it breaks when you're trying to login it seems. I've tried turning off IPv6,and or using my ISP's DNS and custom with no fix.

Examples:

I can't login to USPS

I get a something went wrong with Express Scripts

I can't login to Cadence bank

Hello dbelk80,

Thanks for posting and I’m sorry to hear about your issue. To confirm, does this happen to all devices connected to your Nest Wifi Pro or just to a specific device only? I’ll wait for your reply.

Regards,
Abi

It happens to all devices that are connected to the Nest Router Pro. For example, I can't access the Express Script portal on my computer nor will the portal work on my phone and it will even break the app. So, on my laptop if I turn on a vpn, connect directly to the modem, or any other network, it will work. On my phone if I use cellular data or use a vpn, the app and portal will work. Same goes for any website that I find "isn't working." I'll either get a weird error code from the site or this page can't be displayed.

Hey there,

Thank you for the update and my apologies for the late reply. Please try the steps below and check if it helps:

  • Turn off IPv6.
  • Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  • Restart your network using your Google Home app after doing the changes.

Let me know how it goes. I'll wait for your reply.

Best,
Abi

I turned off IPv6 and programmed custom DNS 8.8.8.8 as primary and 8.8.4.4 as secondary ipv4 DNS. After that, I restarted my cable modem and then restarted my router using the Google home app. The issues persisted.
