Nest wifi point not setting up

I've just purchased a new nest point and can't set it up in Home. 

When I go into Home and select add device it finds it but states " Nest wifi point found, it needs to be activated before set up."

How can you activate it outside of Home ? 

I've tried the Nest app but that tells me to set it up in Home. 

Any ideas ?

Sorry to hear about the setup issues. I imagine you're quite frustrated not to be able to use your new hardware. Let's take a look at this and get it sorted out. I have a few questions to help us narrow in on what's happening.

  • Is this a brand new device, or was it purchased secondhand?
  • Have you gone through the factory reset process on the device before setting it up?
  • Are you using an Android or iOS device for setup?

If you can give me a few more details, we can start trying some fixes on this.
