Nest wifi pro not supporting matter device

Dutch66

I just setup a new Nest wifi pro to replace my gen 1 nest wifi. Everything is connected and working but when I attempt to add a new matter enabled device to google home it gives me an error “You need a hub for Matter to set up and control with Google Home”. This is one of the main reasons I got the new nest wifi pro & it specifically says it supports these devices. Please help!

Hi @Dutch66,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand you are trying to connect your Matter device, but you're getting the error message, 'You need a hub for Matter to set up and control with Google Home.' No need to worry; I'm happy to assist you.

To help provide you with the correct information, I'd like to ask you a few questions and send you some troubleshooting steps:

  • What is the Matter device you are trying to add?
  • Are you connecting the Matter device to the same WiFi network?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Gabriela
