Nest wifi router/point connectivity issue since software update

wallarro

I have a Nest Wifi router and 2 points that used to works fine.

However since the software update several weeks ago (Nest Wifi router 14150.883.17 - Nest Wifi point 1.56.426221), I keep getting intermittent connectivity issues (frozen video calls, "no connection" message in mobile phone, blank pages when browsing in laptop etc) for several seconds and then it is fine again.

Did the usual troubleshooting such as restating the router and ONT but the issue remain. I thought it was an issue with my ISP but then I switched to my old router (ASUS) and the issue is resolved.

Anybody has similar issue after updating the Nest router software?

Hi wallarro,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that you're experiencing troubles with the connections to your Nest WiFi router. I understand how frustrating this can be. I really appreciate the effort to troubleshoot the situation. I'm here to help.

For your concern, please do the following:

  • Please make sure your Nest WiFi router uses the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band. Here is the article on how to identify Nest WiFi and Google WiFi 2.4, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands.
  • Try to remove any spaces or special characters from the SSID or password, if there's any. Special characters could be apostrophes, commas, underscores, quotation marks, and UTF-8 (emojis) that might cause a failed connection.
  • Take a mesh test to check the connection of your points. If you get a weak rating, try moving the Wi-Fi point closer to your main WiFi Nest router or point.

To run a mesh test, do the following:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the WiFi space.
  3. Then, select the WiFi points.
  4. Select Test mesh.
  5. The results will show the connections of all your Nest Wifi points. If one or more has a weak connection, the app will tell you.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron
