Nest wifi trouble with AT&T 1G fiber

My Nest wifi worked just fine in our previous house connected to Comcast Xfinity internet service. We have now switched to AT&T 1G fiber and have had nothing but problems. The wifi will work just fine at times with very fast speeds but every few minutes it will either drop out cometely or slow the speed to a crawl. I have tested the speed connecting straight to the router and it is blazing fast so that is not the problem. I have even turned the router's own WiFi off but that doesn't help. The Nest system is less than a year old and firmware is updated and has one router and 5 access points blanketing the entire house. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Hi, Mefowlerjr.

Sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with inconsistent network speeds. I am sure that's been quite frustrating to deal with. Let's see what we can do to get your issue worked out.

First, here's an article and guide for troubleshooting network speed issues: https://bit.ly/3tygym5

Give that article a look and see if something lines up with your issue.

In the meantime, I do have a few questions that might help us figure it out:

  • When you moved from the old house to the new, did you set your network up the same way in which you had it previously?
  • When you run a mesh test, how are your results for each points? Are you seeing strong connections?
  • Do you get different results running a speed test from the Home app as you do from a 3rd party website?

Try looking through that article and if you can't find an answer there, let me know the answer to those questions and we'll dig deeper here.

Thanks.

Hi, everyone.

As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.

Thanks
