Hi @vivialan

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you were having some inconveniences with your Nest Wifi. Don’t worry! Let me help you with that.

Before we continue, I need to get some information!

  • What Google router do you have?
  • How much speed are you getting?
  • When you refer to hardware, what device do you mean was reset?
  • How many devices do you have in total?
  • Are all the devices getting 60 Mbps speed?
  • What is your internet provider?

Once you have this information, I will be ready to provide you with further assistance!

Best Regards,

Debora

Dear Sir / Madam,

I have 2 NEST router and 1 Nest point    and 3 google wifi

Previous setup was Modem to Nest Router and the other Nest router and point in the 2 bedrooms. Getting around 450 Mpbs WIFI signal.
no problems for over 2 years. Recently, randomly each will go offline
So over the weekend, I decided to reset everything. No matter which NEST router I used to connect to the modem, I only get around 66 Mpbs, The distance to the other point is also very short, not like before. I tried to set up using an android phone with different google account, same result. I have already tried many solutions available on the internet like :

1. Using a different wifi name and password.
2. Hardware reset all the equipment
3. Set the main router to NAT and the other 2 to bridge.
4. Actually this happened once before about 3 months ago, but after reinstallation everything was good.

My last option I took out my old google wifi and set them up. To my surprise the wifi was back to 400Mbps.

My internet provider : HKBN 1000M  (Hong Kong)
My PC on the ethernet connected to the NEST router is fine with speeds of over 900.
Oh I forgot to mention after setup is complete  the wifi id disappears and cannot be found on some occasions
I have reset and installed over 10 times using NEST and goggle WIFI.
At present the 3 google wifi have been working with no issues for 2 days

I am extremely frustrated. After searching on the internet, I think I am not alone. What is going on ?

Hi @vivialan

Thanks for the information! I appreciate you sharing it. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to get this sorted out.

  • Speed Test:

First, let's do a speed test. You can use the website I've linked (click the highlighted text) or any other speed test site you like. Just let me know the results when you're done.

  • Check Cables and Connections:

Make sure all your cables are plugged in properly.

  • Wi-Fi Point Spacing:

Try to keep your Wi-Fi points about 15 to 20 feet apart.

  • Change DNS Settings:

Let's change your DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I know this might sound a bit tricky, so here's a website to help: Change your DNS server

Give these steps a try and let me know how it goes. If they don't work, we can try something else. I'll be waiting to hear back from you.

Best Regards,

Debora
