OnHub to Nest WiFi Transfer

Wen_Dell
Community Member

Hi,

I am trying to replace my working OnHub with the Nest Wifi but keep getting "cannot connect issues" during setup after the QR pic. Multiple days over the last month trying result in same. Tried using a known wire connection to modem, tried Factory Reset on device and in app, removed everything from my app after FR, rebooted my Pixel 3 multiple times, bypassed QR and entered 8 digit setup code, and not connecting. Once I had to go back to my OnHub after I had removed it and that set up worked great - add device, used manual set up code - BAM done.  Must be operator error. Suggestions?

Hmm, strange. Try to add the new Nest Wifi as as additional point to your OnHub based network either wired to the OnHub or wirelessly, let it update itself, then factory reset your whole network from the Google Home app and try to set up the Nest Wifi as the new primary?

I don't work for Google.

1) You said factory reset your whole network. Do I need to factory reset wifi point in app for both OnHub and Nest individually?

2) Not sure how to do this - and try to set up the Nest Wifi as the new primary.  No primary designation in app. Do you mean unplug the OnHub and connect Nest directly to modem?

Hi Edward,

I tried the recommended steps provided. Unfortunately, it said '... can not add Nest Wifi to OnHub network. Incompatible.'.

So I tried for the fourth time to connect the Nest Wifi directly. It still can not connect.

Suggestions?

Hi Wen_Dell,

Thanks for the update. Just to clarify, were you able to reset the network on the Google Home app before setting up the Nest Wifi? If you haven't yet, here's how:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Wi-Fi > Settings > Factory reset network > OK.

Thanks,

Edward

1. There's an option to factory reset the whole network in the Google home app, which will include all connected pucks/ points. See:

2. After factory reset of whole network (all points), unplug OnHub from modem, plug Nest Wifi to modem, set it up as master in new network in the Google Home app.

I don't work for Google.

Edward,

1) Factory Reset Network from APP with HUB Network online. Started Add Device - it said to restart Modem.

2) Needed to reset/unplug all connections from Modem.

3) Powered up Modem and waited till back on-line.

4) Powered up Nest. Once light came on plugged into Modem.

5) Started Device Setup. It CONNECTED. Yahoo.

6) Went through and finished the setup of Nest Wifi and Google Extender.

All Devices are up and running!!!! It's ALIVE!!!

Thanks lots for your help and patience.

Have a great day.
