Pause devices directly connect to google mesh

How can I pause a device if it is directly connected to Google Mesh router (through an Ethernet cord). It shows in Google Home app in device list and I can select “pause” but because it is directly connected it does not pause

I think it should work for wired devices too.

Does it currently work to pause wireless devices for you, is it just wired devices that won't get paused? Could it be MAC randomization, like mentioned in the Reddit reference?
