Port range forwarding not working Part 2

camfool
Community Member

Hi Jeff,

I do appreciate the fact that someone is reading these posts.

In the prior post, I pointed out that port range forwarding is not working.

This is backed up by a Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleWiFi/comments/nse4kq/port_ranges_in_home_app/

You said:

... "This is actually a known issue with the Home app and is something we're working to fix internally. I'm hoping that we have a fix for this soon as it is impacting a lot of other users as well." ... from around 9/15

But then your next message says:

... "I just wanted to check in and see if anything has improved on your end as we continue to look into things." ...

SO WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME IF GOOGLE has fixed it's bug yet???

Is that a cut/paste answer for when the day gets long and you don't want to write out a real response?

I know support can be hard, but it's confusing as Hell when Google asks you if they (Google) have fixed their "well known" issues.

Do you have an update on this?

I was able to work around this issue by using an Apple device (ipad) not a Google device (Pixel 4a), now if that is not ironic I don't know what is.

The only thing I know at the time, that might be useful to share is that Apple devices work better with changing the port ranges for port forwarding, currently.

Hi, camfool.

As this is an emerging issue that we're learning about right now, I wanted to see if anything had changed on your end. As people are reporting issues, sometimes we get reports of other processes or changes in setup that improve things for users. As network setups vary, it takes a while to understand exactly what's going on (especially if it's due to interaction with 3rd party apps/services/hardware or a fully internal issue).

We're looking at it, for sure, but personally I like to follow up on the individual cases I'm tracking to see if something jumps out that can speed up an overall fix. I will be sharing new info as I have it, but for now I'm just touching base with those I can.

Again, sorry it's frustrating on your end. I use these products too and I know it can be maddening while waiting for updates or fixes.

Hey, camfool.

Sorry I don't have anything concrete for you at this time. It's still an issue that's being looked at, and at times there are variations between iOS and Android with the Home app. The idea is to have full functionality and parity across all platforms. Hopefully as we resolve these sorts of issues we can achieve that.

Hey, camfool.

It's been a while, so I just wanted to check in to see if you needed anything else here or if you had sorted out a solution for yourself. I know we didn't have something as a fix for you yet, but I'm hoping things are working for you. If you still need help on this, let me know.

Thanks.

Hi, everyone.
As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.
Thanks
