Setup wifi ethernet

Can I use an Ethernet connection away from the home modem to connect my google wifi mesh router point #1?

Yes, the #1/main/primary/master Nest Wifi unit MUST be connected by ethernet. As long as that cable is within specifications and working as intended, it can be 30cm or 50 meters (CAT6a for instance).
