While on call with a support rep trying to solve consistent wifi/point dropping issues, I was asked to hard reset my router and points using the buttons at the bottom of the devices, but while trying to setup the Google Nest point to the wifi network I consistently got the error "Something went wrong". Myself and support rep had no clue why, we kept trying multiple times after resetting, unplugging all devices but to no avail and the support rep disconnected after an hour.
Later that day I tried myself while reading different forums and I found the trick so here it goes,
1. When you get "Something went wrong" on your phone when adding point to the wifi network, leave the setup.
2. Go to "Network Settings" and restart entire network.
3. Once devices are back up, go to devices tab at the bottom of Google home app, you will see your point under a heading called "Local", click on it and it will take you to a setup screen and add it successfully to the network.
4. Run mesh test to confirm that network is setup properly.
