Something went wrong - while setting up mesh network

ERG

just purchased a google nest pro and nothing but trouble.  Set up the router and works ok (after about 10 tries).  Now while trying to set up the mesh network.  I only get an error that says "something went wrong" when I try with my android phone - with my wife's apple phone - get an error with OAUTH right from the start.

Tried (Many times):

  • reinstall home
  • hardware reset
  • unplug rest

Nothing seems to work.  The support is pitiful and circular.  Seems to always end up in the same place -

Next step is to return?

Hi ERG,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry that you're unable to set up a mesh network due to an error message saying "something went wrong." I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts in this situation. I understand how frustrating this must be. Help's here!

Before I begin, I need to ask you a few questions for further assistance:

  • How many Nest points are you trying to set up?
  • Did you try to set up the points wireless or through a wired connection?
    • How do you want your mesh setup?
  • What's the color of the lights on the parent and child points?
  • Is the child point within the recommended distance from the parent point?
    • The recommended distance is between 20 to 25 feet (6 to 7 meters).
  • Do you have Google WiFi point or Nest WiFi point?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Rusell.
