TP Link modem not connecting to Google Router/Mesh Points

Im needing some help.

I had purchased the Google mesh system - (Router and 2 additional points) late last year. Connected them easily via Google home app. Everything has been working great.

Needed to reset the modem. When I tried to re connect it to the router it will not allow a connection to the wifi?

It just keeps coming up with this...

Connecting to your wifi router. Almost done.  Please ensure you have plugged in your ethernet cable."Setup fails at the same point every time, after which is asks me to reboot the modem.  I have followed the prompts multiple times to reboot modem and router, but never succeed. 

I have rebooted, unplugged numerous times with no success!

Do I need a new modem? Mind you its working by itself (connecting to the wifi - just not to the router??) GRRR frustrated!! Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you  - I had already tried the reset earlier and it was still not connecting to the modem unfortunately.

After many frustrating hours of connecting with the mesh, I am returning the product.  Message indicate everything is connected, yet continuous messages appear on Google home that it isn't connected.  I have tried everything.  Back to using my 10-year old routers that work perfectly.
