The Nest Pro feature is currently unable to add users.

I'm having trouble adding household members to my Nest Pro Wi-Fi system. Although I can see the button to add people, when I click it, an error message pops up, and it asks me to try again. This issue has been happening repeatedly, and it's quite frustrating. I experienced a similar problem with my previous Google Wi-Fi system, but it was so long ago that I don't remember how I fixed it. This issue is now affecting my fiancé as well. There are no network issues that would prevent me from adding people to the system. Usually, I'm the one people come to with tech problems, and I can fix almost anything, but this is very bizarre. I haven't had much time to work on it, but I thought I'd reach out for some help.

Hi Hess3,

It's definitely frustrating when something as simple as adding household members to your Nest Pro Wi-Fi system turns into a persistent issue. Just so we're on the same page, we wanted to confirm if your concern is about adding a home member via the Google Home app or about an issue with the Family Wi-Fi feature. What is the exact error message that you received?

In the meantime, here are some potential reasons for the error message and steps you can take:

1. Google Account Issues:

  • Ensure both you and your fiancé are using valid Google accounts. Double-check the email addresses and passwords.
  • Make sure your fiancé has accepted the invitation you sent from the Google Home app. They might need to check their spam folder and confirm the invite.
  • Try sending the invitation again. Sometimes issues with invitations can be resolved by simply resending them.

2. Google Home App Errors:

  • Close and reopen the Google Home app. This can sometimes refresh data and resolve minor glitches.
  • Force quit the Google Home app and restart your phone. This can clear temporary app data that might be causing issues.
  • Check for and install any available updates for the Google Home app. Outdated versions might have bugs that cause problems adding users.

3. Network Settings:

  • Verify that your device is connected to the correct Nest Pro Wi-Fi network.
  • Try temporarily disabling any firewall or parental controls on your network. These can sometimes block user management features.
  • Reboot your Nest Pro router and any mesh points. A fresh restart can sometimes clear network configurations that might be causing issues.

Feel free to ask any further questions or provide more details about the error message if you need further assistance!

Best,

Dan
