VOIP packet loss on 3 point mesh system

kulsum

Ever since we connected to 3 point mesh wifi, we've had issues with packet loss on VOIP (vonage). We have replaced the phone set and also spoke with the provider but it seems to default to the WIFI issues with mesh. The provider has asked us to turn off SIP ALG router settings. I'm unable to find this on Google home and would greatly appreciate help in this regard.

Hello kulsum,

Thanks for posting here in the Community.

SIP ALG is not a setting supported in Google Wifi and Nest Wifi devices, so there's no way for us to turn it off. You can perform a 2-minute power cycle on your entire network to resolve your issue. Here's how:

  1. Disconnect the power from the modem.
  2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and power cord from the parent point.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the child points.
  4. Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes.
  5. Connect the power to the modem, then your router and points. Note: Make sure you are using an undamaged Ethernet cable to securely connect to your modem and router.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Lovely

Hi kulsum,

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that I suggested? Let me know if that did the trick or not, so we can try something else.

Sincerely,
Lovely
