VPN disconnects often when my switch is connected to my router

Subject pretty much says it.  When my switch is connected to my router my work VPN (FortiClient) disconnects regularly on my work laptop (connected through WIFI).  If I disconnect the switch and connect the ethernet directly to my desktop I have no issues with the VPN disconnecting on my work laptop.  Any thoughts on why this may be, and if there is a possible fix?

Hello @90awdturbo

What kind of switch is it? I can't see a reason this would happen for an unmanaged Ethernet switch, but smart/managed switches (or even "gaming" switches) can sometimes do some stranger things.

Thanks for the reply, Michael.  The switch I'm referring to is a TP-Link 8 Port.  It does say easy smart managed in the description if that's of any help.

Can you try disabling the "Loop Prevention" feature on that switch and see if it makes a difference?

Hello, I apologize for leaving you hanging!

I haven't had a chance to connect the switch back into my network but I will be sure to try disabling loop prevention once I have.

Thanks so much for following up.
