HI,
I have had a Nest Wifi router and Nest wifi point in my home for the past 4 years. I have had no issues with them till the last month. Wifi speed has gone down from 500 mbps to 2 mbps in the last month. Here are the some data points.
1. I did not change placement in the last month
2. Restart resolves the issues for some time. The speed goes back to 2 mbps after some time
3. I did a factory reset and that does not help either. Same behavior as described in 2
4. I have Comcast for internet. When I test the speed on Google home app, it shows 500 mpbs, but when I check speed on the device, it shows 2 mbps.
Are there more things I could try? It's been a pain to WFH with these issues.

Hi @mckarvin,
Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you have been experiencing some inconveniences with your Nest Wifi router and your Nest Wifi point because the Wi-Fi speed has dropped from 500 Mbps to 2 Mbps in the last month. I know how frustrating this situation can be, especially when everything worked well for years, but I appreciate you taking the time to share and perform troubleshooting steps! Let me help you find the best resolution for this.
Before we move forward, I need some information to provide you with the most accurate steps:

Hi @mckarvin,
Thanks for sharing that information with me! Based on what you mentioned, it’s possible that the issue is related to a Double NAT. This happens when you have two different routers active at the same time in this case, your Nest Wifi Router and the Comcast modem. To fix this, we can try to enable Bridge Mode on your modem.
However, before we move to this step, I need to check something important: Do you have any additional services with Comcast, such as a landline phone or TV service? I’m asking because enabling Bridge Mode can sometimes interfere with those other services and cause a larger connection problem. If you do have those services, it is best to contact your ISP (Comcast) first to have them enable this option for you safely. If you do not have other services, please let me know, and I will help you enable it yourself.
Keep me posted!
Best regards,
Debora

Hi Debora,
I do not have any TV or landline service. Can you please let me know how to enable bridge mode on modem?

I am experiencing a similar problem. My setup does not have a double NAT; the Google Nest Pro is linked directly to the ONT. The speed drop is isolated to the mesh point, while the main router remains unaffected. Power cycling the mesh point fixes the issue for 2–3 weeks, after which the speed is throttled back down to approximately 20 Mbps.

I enabled bridge mode and I still see issues. Wifi speed drops down drastically and then once I reboot the nest router, it comes back up.

I did a factory reset of all nest devices and created a new wifi with a different name and I still see that the issues persists. Are there any resolutions to the issue?

Google support told me this trick when I was having issues when I first bot my Mesh system. Unplug all units and put in one spot next to the one you identified as your router. Do factory reset on all, and then add one point at a time. When completed, unplug the points and put in final locations. Worked for me.
