connecting Google Nest WiFi to an xfinity

soupman

Thank you in advance to any help the community may offer.

Trying to connect the Google Nest WiFi together with the Xfinity xfi.  Tried almost anything/everything to connect as a bridge from the xfi to the Nest.  Tried resetting both.  The Nest wants to go through the set up screens but stops at actually connecting to the internet through the xfi.

Is there another process that I am overlooking or should I go through xfinity to answer.   I'm also considering getting a straight modem, however; I don't want to lose the (home) phone capabilities of the xfi.

Thank you Community Members

If you connect a PC using ethernet cable to the same port on the modem as you would connect the Nest Wifi, what happens? Do you get internet access, and what IP do you get? If you get a private ip (search wikipedia for "RFC 1918"), then you should put your modem in bridge mode. If you get a global ip, you should be good.

Maybe your ISP can help you?

Oh, no! @olavrb's reply!

And I think MichaelP made me type that. Maybe downgrade his holiday gift this year (and completely eliminate mine).
