Hi earl2,

Thanks for posting—let's get this sorted out. Did you change your internet service provider, or are you changing your Wi-Fi name and password? What’s the exact behavior when changing your Google Nest Wifi device’s connection? Are you getting any error messages? What’s the color/status of the light showing on your Google Nest Wifi device?

Regards,
Alex

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting. Just so we're on the same page, are you all trying to set up a new router? Which Google/Nest router are we working with? What device are you using to set up your network (iOS or Android)? Do you have the Internet on your modem? Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet service provider (ISP)?

For setup concerns, give these steps a try:

  1. Inspect the bottom of your main point for the setup network and setup code.
  2. Go to your phone's settings, then WiFi. Then check if that same setup network will appear as one of the available WiFi networks your phone can connect to.
  3. If already connected, I need you to forget that network and reconnect back.
  4. If not yet, you can connect to it and use the setup code as the password.
  5. Turn off your cellular data and make sure that your Bluetooth and location services are on. Then check if you can still access the Internet while only connected to the setup network.
  6. Reinstall your Google Home app.
  7. Attempt setup.
  8. Try another phone.
  9. If the issue persists, factory reset your device.

For password concerns, follow the steps in this helpful guide: Change Wi-Fi password.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Dan
