Creating a second "Home" profile to use a separate passcode with one of my Nest Yale locks.

I have 4 Nest Yale Locks in my home. One of them is to my wine cellar. I have teenagers, so I need the passcode to be unique for the wine cellar. The only way to do this was to create a new "Cellar" home profile in my Nest app - which worked. However, now I can't get the Nest Connect puck to activate correctly to support my wine cellar lock. Is this a problem since all four locks/Nest Connects are using the same network? Or is there a way to also have the fourth, wine cellar, Yale lock benefit from it's own Nest Connect within the same network as the other three locks, using the main "Home" profile?

Hi Strohpiece,

Thanks for reaching out. Let’s see what’s going on — a few questions: does your phone paired to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest Connect when adding your Nest x Yale Lock? Are they connected to the same home structure or in separate home structures? Also, what Wi-Fi frequency band do you try to connect to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

JT

Hi there,

I haven't heard from you in a while so I'll be locking this thread if there is no update within the day. If you have any new issues, updates or just a discussion topic, feel free to start a new thread in the community.

Janthadeus, thanks for reaching out. I made it work, but it won't connect the lock to my Google Home app, so I'm missing out from those features. It seems to me that this would be a common request and not hard to allow the user to program a unique access code for a specific lock withing one home network. What is Google doing to make this possible in the future?

Hey there,

We’re glad that you made it work! Your lock can’t be paired to the Google Home app — all you need to do to view your lock on the Google Home app is to sign in with your account. Below are the functionalities your lock can only do on the Google Home app:

  • Lock tone volume
  • Auto-Lock timer
  • One Touch Locking

To learn more, take a look at this article: Control your lock with the Google Home app.

Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — we'll take this as feedback. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community page https://goo.gle/2JvnMRy for any updates. Check out this link on how to file feedback.

Thanks,
