Gemini doesn't say Hi

I've had my Google home for some time probably about 5 years. Recently, I received an update to the Gemini on it.

Prior to the update, I would request the home to say "hi" to my kids. One of my kids name, Rumi, was understood as Roomie and because of this the Google home couldn't say "hi Rumi" because it did not grasp that this was a person. This was fine and understandable because the home was likely not programmed to understand the name so we would use "Ruby" instead. All that to say the Google home understood the assignment and would say "Hi" to both my kids.

Then came the update to Gemini. Some really weird things have been happening and I swear this thing has a mind of its own and is giving me attitude. Upon initial update to Gemini, she would say "Hi" to both my kids including "Rumi" and I thought how wonderful the update now recognizes Rumi as a person. It went so far as to even ask me for nicknames that people in the house go by. I thought this is crazy good! Then boom by the second day, Gemini stopped saying hi altogether and would talk back and say they don't interact with people and can only play videos. I thought this is so weird cause just yesterday you were doing it just fine. So I did a quick Google search to see if the information it was providing me was accurate. Then again boom it started to say hi again to my kids.

Then today, again it didn't. I thought this is weird so I accused it of lying cause what in the world of robots do you do things one day and not the other days. So I asked it why is it lying and like a conversation, a rude one, it replied saying while they can interact they can't do commands like "say hi to"... Again all very weird cause how do you say it one day and not the next.

This AI is **bleep**in weird and I want the old Google back because it never talked back and was always consistent.

It’s weird when something works perfectly one day, even asking for nicknames, and then suddenly acts like it never could do that in the first place. That kind of back-and-forth makes it feel like it’s “talking back,” even if it’s really just buggy behavior. I get why you’d want the old, predictable version back.

Thank you for reply. To make sure I understand correctly. What you are indicating is that there is a bug in the programming of an Artificial Intelligence that was designed to interact with people that not only affects its ability to interact at the most basic level, which is to say Hi, as well as it's ability to remember previous conversations and names of the people in the room. Right. I get ya. I guess Gemini shouldn't have been rolled out. Also, what I meant by talking back, was that it gave me a whole lecture about why it couldn't say "hi" all while saying it in its explanation. This is the talking back I was referring to.
