I have a nest mini and when I would say turn off a light it used to just "ding" afterwards. Now it very loudly says "turning light off". I come home very late and it wakes up the whole house, not to mention the fact that is just obnoxious and annoying.
Well since I also find it annoying that both my phone and nest "wake up" to commands I decided to just remove the nest entirely. Google makes these dumb changes that nobody wants (it only started doing this a few weeks ago) and there is no way to stop it. WHY?
Just not worth the aggravation & easier to just unplug the thing!

Thanks for sharing. Have you tried to move the speaker and the light to the same room? This should not trigger any voice announcement but only the success chime.

It is and always has been in the same room

Thanks for confirming. Please try the below solution:
- In the Google Home app go to your Nest Mini -> Settings -> Notifications & digital wellbeing
- Look for Minimal Voice Responses or Reduced Feedback. Turning this on should reduce spoken confirmation and rely only on chimes.

Solution: I unplugged the Nest, and removed it from my Home. Waited 24hrs then reconnected it and everything went back to normal.
I do not know how or when this setting was changed, but it absolutely should not be so difficult to reverse. There are thousands of posts I have read from people who hate this this one feature, let alone the countless other Google changes people hate and have forced down their throats by developers too disconnected from reality.

I tried the Minimal Voice Responses setting and it did not work.
