While attempting to onboard a Matter device (Sonoff) using the Home SDK in my Android app, we encountered connectivity issues on two devices: the Pixel 7a and Moto G 54. I've verified that Bluetooth was functioning properly, the mobile devices were connected to a 2.4 GHz network, and the network signal strength was strong.
Model details:
pixel 7a | Android 14 |
Moto G 54 | Android 14 |
I was able to successfully onboard the device on other Pixel 7a models, but with this particular unit, the process failed. I also tried updating Google Play Services and resetting the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, but the issue persists.
Errors:
1. Can't reach google - check your internet connection and try again.
2.Can't connect your device - check your device instructions.

Hello @kartikGupta1502 ,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your issue. Based on what you have described above, can you try resetting your Matter Device (Sonoff) and then try commissioning the device again ?

I encountered an interesting situation with Matter device onboarding:
Scenario 1 (my Pixel 7a):
Scenario 2 (Other devices including another Pixel 7a):
What could explain this inconsistency in behaviour where identical phone models (Pixel 7a) have different hub requirements for Matter onboarding? Why does one Pixel 7a require a hub while another doesn't?
