Hello, our product has already passed Matter certification. Can we directly use the "WWGH" badge, or do we need to perform any additional operations?

Thanks for reaching out. Passing Matter certification is a necessary step, but it is not the final step to officially use the "Works with Google Home" (WWGH) badge. You still need to go through a Google-specific certification process within the Google Home Developer ConsoleThe process to obtain WWGH is managed entirely through the Google Home Developer Console.  Please refer to the steps below.

Step 1: Create/Configure the Matter Integration

  • You must have your Matter integration (using your Vendor ID and Product ID) set up in the Google Home Developer Console under the Matter section.

Step 2: Complete Google-Specific Testing

  • You must ensure your device passes Google's requirements, typically by using the Google Home Test Suite. This testing confirms that your device handles things like:
    • Commissioning/Setup: That the Matter commissioning process works smoothly with the Google Home app and Android Fast Pair.
    • Data Reporting: That the device state (e.g., on/off, temperature) is correctly reported to the Google Home Graph.
    • Commands: That commands issued via the Google Home app are correctly executed by the device.

      For Field Trial Completion:
  • Your Field Trial needs to end before submitting a version for certification.
  • Each Field Trial is conducted against a specific version of your integration, and the results are associated with that respective version.

Step 3: Administrative & Policy Checks

  • Company profile review:
    • Confirms the accuracy of the company information.
    • You cannot apply for certification if you have not completed your company profile.
  • Policy review:
    • Verifies that your integration complies with Google's policy guidelines (e.g., security, privacy, proper device representation).
  • Product Images:
    • Upload the before and after product images before creating a version for submission.

Step 4: Submit for Google Certification

  • Once your integration is ready and all testing is complete, you submit it for final review within the Developer Console:
    • Navigate to Developer Console - Matter - Certify.
    • Integrations that are ready will appear in the "Ready for certification review" section.
    • For Matter-only devices, you will submit your CSA Matter Test Results (which Google now accepts) along with your Google-specific testing artifacts.

Step 5: Access the Badge Assets

After your integration is approved and verified by Google, you will receive confirmation and gain access to the official WWGH badge assets and usage guidelines through the Partner Marketing Hub.
