I am testing Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen and Wi-Fi only Matter device.

My Android phone and Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen are connected.

However, the Google Home App doesn't find the Wi-Fi only Matter device.

Does Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen support Wi-Fi only Matter device?

Hi livekim,

The Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen supports a wide range of smart home devices, including those that are compatible with Matter. However, it's important to note that Matter is a new smart home standard that is not yet widely adopted, and the devices that support it may require updates or additional configuration before they can be discovered and controlled by the Google Home app.

If you're having trouble finding and connecting a Wi-Fi only Matter device to your Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Make sure your device is compatible with Matter
Check the manufacturer's website or documentation to ensure that the device you're trying to connect is compatible with Matter. Not all devices are expected to be supported, especially at the beginning of the Matter rollout.

  2. Check for firmware updates
Make sure that your Nest Hub 2nd Gen is running the latest firmware version, as well as any available updates for the Matter device.

  3. Verify that the devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network
Ensure that both the Nest Hub 2nd Gen and the Matter device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Devices on different networks cannot communicate with each other.

  4. Power cycle your devices
Try unplugging and replugging your Nest Hub 2nd Gen and Matter device to reset them, then try discovering the device again through the Google Home app.

  5. Contact the device manufacturer
If you're still unable to connect your Wi-Fi only Matter device to your Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen, contact the manufacturer for assistance. They may be able to provide additional guidance or firmware updates to resolve the issue.

Overall, the Matter standard is still in its early stages, and support for it will likely improve as more manufacturers adopt the standard and release updates for their devices.

Regards,
M.S.A.
