Yes, you can add your Chromecast back to your Google Home app. It's a straightforward process, and you don't necessarily need to perform a factory reset.
Follow below steps to re-add your Chromecast:

  • Open the Google Home app on your phone and go to Devices tab. Make sure you're signed in with the same Google Account you used before.

  • Tap the '+ Add' icon (in the bottom-right corner).

  • Select 'Google Nest or partner device'.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions. The app should automatically search for devices that are ready to be set up. Your Chromecast, since it's no longer linked to a home, should appear in the list.

  • Select your Chromecast from the list of available devices.

  • Verify the code. Your TV will display a code, and the Google Home app will ask you to confirm that it matches. This ensures you're connecting to the correct device.

  • Continue with the setup to assign it to a room and complete the process.

If for some reason the Google Home app doesn't find your Chromecast, you can try the following:

  • Make sure your phone and the Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.

  • Reboot the Chromecast. Unplug the power cable from the Chromecast, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

  • Reset Chromecast. Press and hold the button on the Chromecast until the light starts blinking, then release it when it turns solid white.
