Hello,

I have the exact problem as in this post ;

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Can-add-JBL-Boombox-3-WiFi-to-a-room-in...

I can see the device in the local devices section but cannot add it to Google home or into a room.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Hi Sym0n,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! Regarding the previous thread you shared, I understand you're experiencing the same issue with your JBL Boombox 3 WiFi and the Google Home app. Although your JBL Boombox 3 WiFi is visible in your local devices, it can't be added to a home or assigned to a specific room. I'm here to help!

To find the best solution, I have some questions for you:

  • Is your JBL Boombox 3 Wifi already set up on the JBL One app?
  • Is your Google Home app updated? Please check out the following link for your reference: Update the Google Home app
  • Is your device's operating system updated to Android 9.0 (or later), or iOS 16.0 (or later) for iPhones/iPads, as required?

Please keep me updated. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Juan

Hi Juan,

Thanks for the reply and your help.

Yes, everything is up to date. The Boombox 3 WiFi is already set up in the JBL One app, and my phone is a Pixel 8 Pro running Android 15 — fully updated, as is the Google Home app.

Appreciate your support.

Best,
Sym0n

Hi Sym0n,

Thanks for keeping me updated! To continue addressing this inconvenience, I have some steps for you to try:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap 'devices.'
  3. Select the plus icon to add a device.
  4. Check the list of devices.
  5. Scroll down and check if your JBL Boombox 3 Wifi is listed under an 'ignore devices' section. If so, remove it from there.

Please let me know the outcome.

Regards,
Juan

Hi Juan,
Thanks again, but unfortunately the flow you described doesn’t apply to my version of the Google Home app.

When I tap the “+ Add” button and choose “Set up a device,” I only get three options:

1. Matter-enabled device

2. Google Nest or partner device

3. Works with Google Home

There is no section for “ignored devices,” and the JBL Boombox 3 WiFi never shows up in any of those flows. It does appear under Local devices, but I can’t assign it to a room or control it. It seems visible on the network but not actually compatible with Google Home room integration.

Happy to try anything else if you think there’s another route — but right now it seems this speaker simply isn’t supported for full Home integration.

Best,
Sym0n

Hi Sym0n,

Thanks for getting back to me! I understand that the "ignored devices" option isn't showing after you followed the provided steps. This section might not appear if you don't have any ignored devices.

To help us improve the Google Home app, we'd love to get your thoughts on your experience trying to assign your JBL Boombox 3 Wi-Fi to a room, which you can share on our feedback form.

Feel free to post any further questions on this forum.

Sincerely,
Juan

Hi Juan,
Appreciate the follow-up. Just to be clear — this isn't about ignored devices. The issue is that the JBL Boombox 3 WiFi appears under Local devices but cannot be added to a room or linked to the Home graph in any way. The speaker is fully set up in JBL One, and visible on the same network, but there is no way to assign it to a room, group it, or manage it like a proper smart speaker.

This isn't a user setup issue — it's a lack of proper integration between JBL and Google Home. The device seems stuck in a limbo state: discoverable, but not manageable.

I’ve submitted feedback, but this feels like a platform-level gap. If this is a known limitation, it would help to have that confirmed openly, so users stop chasing nonexistent setup paths.

Thanks,
Sym0n
