Alarm volume fade-in?

Is there really no way to have the alarm volume fade in over a few minutes on the Nest Hub? The device brags about is gentle walkup but is the least gentle walkup I've had in a very long time. 

I've seen where others create a routine to do this, but this seems like it's just begging for failure modes that result in me not waking up or failing to have lots enough volumes with other sharks throughout the day. 

If I'm wrong can someone direct me to the setting I'm missing?
