All Nest/Mini devices are non-functional except for when using 3rd party things (music/news/weather)

I have a total of 5 devices and all of them became non-functional in exactly the same way today. They will play music/news/weather, but, cannot tell me the time, tell me a joke, set an alarm, etc. I've factory reset them, removed/readded to home, and it's still the same across all devices in exactly the same way. 
They light up when I say "Hey google", but, nothing after I ask a question. 
If I ask it to tell me a joke, it will give the drumroll like it just did, or the wah-wah sound, like it just did, but, no actual joke. It's like all services other than ones that connect to 3rd parties ceased to be operational.

Having the same problem with our 4 devices here too.  Hopefully this is a Google thing that will be fixed.

Same problem with both Nest minis (I have one on each floor). Responds to "Ok, Google." I can turn lights on l/off, and can set alarms, but get no verbal feedback/confirmation on these. It doesn't answer basic questions like time or temperature. I've tried resetting, checking the mic, and checking the volume, and everything looks fine, but clearly it isn't.

Ours are working all of a sudden again.
