All speakers now saying "I also need to know which device to use"

Over the last couple of days all my speakers in the house (2 x Nest Audios, Google hub, Google Home) have started responding with "I also need to know which device to use" when requesting music or radio. In the past it would just play the media on the speaker I was talking to. What has changed?

So far I've checked my Google account is linked with the speakers, the speakers still respond to normal questions, I've turned the speakers off/on at the power point.

5 of my 6 devices are doing this as well.  It’s been 2 days so far.

Me too, and also when using Android auto! I dread to think what a review of my voice commands will look like after all of the expletives I have used over the past 2 days

Same. 5 devices, all doing the same thing. Pathetic response from Google so far.

Just figured it out after 2 days.  Go into your google home app and select media then youtube or your usual choice and select your speaker/s.  I wonder if it an update or something?

Hi, are you saying that we have to do this manually each time we wish to hear audio? I have 6 nest devices across my house, and use Android Auto when in the car. When following your steps, it just comes through on the disk k speaker I manually select. Up until 2 days ago, I could walk into any room and tell my speaker to play a radio station or some specific music and it would do without any problem. An I doing this wrong in relation to your instructions?

I think auto correct kicked in there! Ignore the 'disk k' whatever that is haha

Exactly the same as I was thinking. I can play music manually, but I want to be able to request music/radio verbally like I’ve always done. Not a solution for me unfortunately.

You are right this is only a manual solution.  I tried rebooting it but voice command still doesnt work.  Couldnt find any app updates.

Same situation here on 2 minis, one nest hub max and one nest audio.

Google mini fails to find any of my devices - Wemo and 2 nest thermostat - I see it in Google home app but can’t control it with voice command to the Google mini.

tried removing and  adding the themoatats back to google home but still doesn’t help..

And just like that… it all started working again today. I assume an update was completed. Hopefully everyone else has the same luck.

Same here! I'm embarrassed by the joy that swept through as my request was successfully executed.
