I have two routines, one triggers at a set time, the other runs when I'm working in the kitchen.
One triggers every day at 2 PM for my daughter, and it changes the volume of our hub and runs the "What's the animal of the day?" command. For the last couple of weeks, about half the time it doesn't play the jingle and talk to my daughter about the animal of the day, instead it pulls info from some website about the same stupid quail EVERY TIME. This is frustrating for my daughter, who gets excited about her "animal time" as she calls it, and for me because I can't fix it (despite reboots and all that) and since she's five she doesn't understand why I can't fix it.
The other one triggers when I give the command phrase, and it adjusts volume, lights, and then finally runs the command "Catch me up" to play my selected news sources. For about a month now, when I run this routine or when I simply say "Hey Google, catch me up" instead of catching me up on the news, it plays random music from pandora. It does this no matter what device I use, and I even tried unlinking my pandora account to see if that would solve the problem. Spoiler alert, it didn't. It still plays pandora, even when I don't have pandora enabled AT ALL.
I've tried adjusting the routines, rebooting my devices, and poking around in all my settings to no avail. Neither of these commands work anymore. Either consistently, in the case of the animal of the day, or at all, in the case of catch me up.

Hey LadyBriar,
Thanks for reaching out. I know how challenging it is when something is not working on your Google Nest Hub - I'd love to dig deeper into this issue.
A few questions:
Let's go ahead and try creating a new routine with the same actions. Once done, delete the old one then check if you will have the same issue.
Looking forward to your response.
Cheers,
Muddi

When: For the animal of the day, it started a few weeks ago, consistently. Months before that, every once in a blue moon. For the catch me up issue... probably a couple of months now, I think. Please take that with a grain of salt, my sense of time is VERY poor.
Routine or not, the commands don't work. The routines don't work, and doing the command myself yields the same results.
My hub is the "Nest Hub Max (Charcoal)"
Firmware version is... 1.67.330920
I have tried making "test" routines multiple times, to no avail. But, also, these commands don't work on any of my three mini speakers, either, so its not just my hub.

Hey LadyBriar,
Thanks for the added information. To confirm, do you have the same issue when using the Google Assistant app on your phone?

Muddi

Oh weird. I replied to your last post but it apparently never went through. To answer your last question, yes I have the same issue via mobile assistant.

Hey there,
Have you tried to perform a complete reset? Let's go ahead and try that first to see if that would help.
Also, it would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:
Keep me posted.
Best,
Dan

I've power cycled my router (modem/router combo) but I didn't unplug my Google devices afterward. Mostly because this issue isn't happening only in my home but at my friend's houses too. Basically: this is NOT on my end.

Hello LadyBriar,
I'm happy to inform you that when tried it on our test device, animal of the day worked. Could you confirm if it's now resolved on your end?
Looking forward to your response.
Best,
Dan

No. And I did reset my devices again, and even tried on a different wi-fi network from my phone just to test.
Still just talks about that stupid quail from that website it reads from.

Hi LadyBriar,
We appreciate you doing those steps but, before we proceed, could you confirm if the reset steps that you took were the same steps as what you see in this link? If so, you had to set it back up, correct? How many Nest speakers and displays are affected?
Looking forward to your response.
Best,
Dan
