Aux input with speaker group is not working

When I had set up my google home max with my record player I was very impressed with the way it worked. Since I have to maxes paired as a group the records started playing on both in stereo even though I connected my preamp to one of the speakers only. Last week it all went to hell, I assume because google lost its lawsuit with Sonos. The speakers completely stopped working and crashed my entire google WiFi network every time I tried doing anything with them in the home app. After I factory rest them I was able to connect them again, but when I set them up as a group they don’t even show up in the same room. Now only one of them is playing when I connect the record player. I can turn on manually the other max to play together but every time I change records the **bleep** thing defaults to playing only on the one connected. I think it would be decent from google to address this thing in an email to customers to give an update of the lost functionality after the lost lawsuit and give some sort of idea on workarounds until they hopefully come up with a permanent solution. Does anyone have ideas how to get around the group issues?
