I have a nest hub (2nd gen) which has been working fine for ages.
Over the past week I have had problem playing any BBC streams to it.
The stream starts playing fine but when I try to display the clock the audio stops.
I can click play to restart the audio but when I display the clock it stops, every time.
I have tried various BBC streams and they all do the same.
However if I play streams via TuneIn or global player it works fine.
BBC streams didn't suffer this problem until a few days ago so I can only assume that they have updated the BBC player app and introduced this bug.
Does anyone else experience this problem?
I appreciate that the BBC probably have written the app but how do you report the issue to them?
I use my hub as an alarm clock/radio alarm and usually listen to my local BBC radio station but now I can't see the time on the display, I have to use a different station.

Yes same here, only started tonight. I listen to BBC radio at night and now the screen stays on all night, it doesn't dim, doesn't change to clock , you can change screens brightness manually, and you can't navigate the nest hub as the radio stops.
It's broken and means you can't use the nest /home hub as an alarm clock at night and listen to bbc anymore as it's too bright and no clock!!!!
Please fix asap, or just go back to the previous app ...or let us use radio player or TuneIn as the BBC radio player!!!

Same here! Completely useless as a clock radio now, which is half of the reason I got the bloody thing
Google, fix this please!

From what I read, its the BBC that have written this app so up to them to fix it but I cannot find out how to contact them about these issues. Just hoping they read these posts.
I am now listening to commercial radio because that still works properly it is only BBC programmes that have the problem and I like to listen to the local news in the mornings.
I will try to contact my local BBC station tomorrow to see if they can escalate it.

No idea if Google Nest team read these messages - it would appear to be a faulty BBC Sounds app - which is not allowing multitasking, or dimming etc - with Tune In you can scroll the Nest Hub, turn on lights, heating, etc etc while still listening the to radio, but BBC Sounds stops as soon as you do anything else - didn't did this a few days ago, so must be a bug in an update I guess.
Pretty sure there's a BBC Sounds page on the BBC where we can complain/highlght the issue
But contacting local BBC station sounds a good idea

Just contacted the BBC here, reporting the fault
I would suggest everyone does this too, reporting the total lack of multitasking for some reason in the last few days from the BBBC Sounds app on Google Nest hub, gen 1 and I'm guessing gen 2 as well.

I have exactly the same issue raised here. Use it as a clock radio but permanlty stuck on radio display.

If you could send a report to the BBC using this link- they may fix it quicker.
The more people reporting the problem will tell them how widespread it is.

good luck

I had a reply from the BBC, a guy called Ciaran I think who didn't address my issue, but the usual check for updates, reboot etc, but clearly didn't pay much attention to the fact that something has changed for us all in the last few days - I'm guessing a bug in an update to BBC Sounds.
There is a link to follow up if the problem remains so will have to do that and maybe the tech team will actually address the issue many are.having rather than a generic switch on /switch off response!!!! (I actually do switch mine off daily anyway, so always reboots every day)

seems my nest hub has magically fixed itself. Can now play BBC and have clock displaying 🙂

Thanks nev, mine has now fixed itself and sounds like a bit different, so I suspect that there was an update **bleep** up
