BBC radio 3 getting confused with youtube channel

Hi all.  when I ask my speakers to play BBC radio 3, it says "check out this radio 3 station on you tube music", and starts playing some random music (seems to be different ever time?).  Also sometime the device will stay "Sorry, youtube TV isn't available in your country.  All other BBC radio stations (1,2 and 4) are working fine, it''s just radio 3 that's getting confused.  Anyone else getting this?  Any idea how to fix it?

Hi @LeeCotton

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest speakers don't play BBC Radio 3. Help's here!

Try the troubleshooting step here:

  • Be specific with your wording: Instead of just saying "Play BBC Radio 3, "try using a phrase like "play BBC Radio 3 on the radio" or "tune in to BBC Radio 3." This might help your speakers understand you want the radio broadcast.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Melany

Hello Melanie.  I've tried many variations on this, but it's still not working.  As I say, "play BBC radio 1" and "Play BBC radio 2" work fine, but "play BBC radio 3" either plays some Youtube channel that is definately not Radio3, or it says "sorry, google TV is not available in your area".

Is anyone else suffering with this?

Hi @LeeCotton

Thanks for the follow-up information. I understand how frustrating it can be when your Nest speakers don't play BBC Radio 3.

While it's unusual for a specific station to be unavailable, there could be a temporary issue with BBC Radio 3 since other BBC stations work on your Nest speakers. If you have any further questions about BBC Radio station, you can contact them for more information to stay updated.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

I don't think it's a problem with the station itself as I can play it on my phone and "cast"it to a speaker, so the station is definitely running. The issue is with the voice commands not being understood, and getting confused with other YouTube content.

Have you tried this yourself? What's happened when your try it?

Hi @LeeCotton,

Thanks for the follow-up!

There might be an issue with BBC Radio. You could look for more information through the BBC website to see if this happens often. Stay tuned for news and updates.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just to say that I reported this to BBC sounds, and they have been in touch with google and have now resolved the issue.  I've got to say, the responses to this thread have not been useful, and have been suggesting it's user error when there was clearly an issue. ☹️
