Both my Samsung Galaxy S22 and Nest Max Hub are set up with Google Assistant. When I say "Hey Google" call Mom, both my phone and Hub make the call at the same time. I just want the Hub to make the call, and want keep Google Assistant from my phone. How can I get just the Hub to make the phone call? Thank you,

Hi paulek,

Thanks for posting.

Question: are both your Nest Hub Max and your Samsung Galaxy S22 using only one account? If so, then both should answer especially if your phone’s Google Assistant is active. Let’s try this instead ― try to make a call using your Nest Hub Max but make sure your phone is away from your display and cannot hear your voice and see what happens. Also, if both devices are near each other, try to make a call but this time, instead of saying “Hey, Google!, you should try “Ok, Google!”.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Both are connected to the same wifi. I was hoping I did not need to place my phone far away when using the nest. I was hoping either the phone or the nest would respond with the closest device overriding the other, but not both responding.

Hi paulek,

Thanks for responding. You might want to check these settings to see if this would make any changes.

Step 1: Update your Google app version

  1. On your phone, open the Google app Search Icon.
  2. At the bottom right of the Home screen, tap More More and then Settings and then About.
  3. Look for the version number at the top.
  4. If your version is below 6.5, go to the Google app page, then tap Update.

Step 2: Add the same account to both devices

Important: If the phone that responds isn't yours, these steps won’t fix the issue.

If you have multiple Google Accounts, add the account that you used to set up Google Home to your phone.

Step 3: How to use "Hey Google"

Talk to Google Home

  • Say "Ok Google". (Your phone shouldn’t respond).

Talk to your phone

Important: The languages you can use depend on the device. Learn which languages work on your device.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess

Hey paulek,

None of the answers are satisfactory. I want to have my phone and my nest in the same room, but for a way for me to request a phone call in which the nest answers and the smartphone does not. Both are on the same Wi-Fi and on the same account. If there is a specific answer that would be great, but that's not what I seem to have received as far as I can understand. Thank you.

Hey paulek,

Currently, the only way for your phone to not answer is to turn off the Google Assistant or make sure that it's away from your Nest Hub Max when making a call. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to the team. I also suggest that you send feedback using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback," or by following the steps on this link.

Cheers,

Thank you for your straightforward reply. I didn't think it was possible with both the phone and nest on at the same time. There are some workarounds that can be done, but I was hoping it would be more convenient. Again thank you for your response and clarification.
