Broadcast to single device doesnt work

EduardvNiekerk

We are in the Netherlands ans the broadcast funtion works perfectly across all our speakers. The function to broacast to specific speaker doesnt work for us. I noticed the disclaimer that this ‘broadcast to’ function only works in english. So even when pronounced in english, it doesnt work.
is there a work around ?

Hi EduardvNiekerk,

I hope you're able to see RachelGomez123 response because it is correct. Also, just so we're on the same page, what is the exact command you've given why the broadcast feature works across all speakers? May I know what Nest speakers you have? Are they in a speaker group? Was it working before? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help. You could also check out this guide for more information and troubleshooting.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan,

thanks for following up. I did notice and try the tips in the reply. Unfortunately it didn’t work. We have the Nest Mini speaker (Firmwareversie van systeem: 324896
Firmwareversie van Cast: 1.56.324896
) and they are all registered under my account. It’s the Nest Mini. speaker. I have 3. Command that work are e.g. ‘Hey Google, broadcast, kids come down’ and then all speakers get the message. But perhaps it’s because we live in the Netherlands and it’s only available in English (speaking countries?). Tried the broadcast to “device-name” or broadcast in “room-name”.

Hey there,

Thanks for the update. To confirm, the broadcast is working on all Nest speakers except for the Nest Mini? Is it on the same Wi-Fi network as the others? Was it working before?

Would you mind double checking the language settings of your Google Assistant and see if it’s in EN-US? Follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top-right, tap the Account icon.
  3. Tap Assistant settings> Languages.
  4. Tap English (United States).
Note: By default, the language is set based on the customer's region.
  5. Choose the preferred language to use instead. It will immediately apply the selection.

Once done, let's know the status of the “do not disturb” function of your Nest Mini:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Select the device card of the speaker or display.
  3.  At the top right, tap Settings > Notifications and digital wellbeing > Do not disturb.
  4. Tap the slider on On or off Off.

Also, through voice command "OK Google, turn off Do not disturb."

Tell us how it goes.

Regards,

Dan

Hi there,

Thanks for all the support and friendly follow ups.

I had 2 languages in the assistant setting, dutch and english US. I removed dutch and kept English US. Unfortunately, it still didnt work. I could only broadcast to all the speakers and not to a specific room / person.

Hi EduardvNiekerk,

To confirm, are you trying to broadcast on a Smart clock with built-in Google Assistant? Let's go ahead and do a factory reset. This will help us refresh the settings on your devices. Visit this link for the steps on how to reset your device.

Cheers,

Muddi

Good morning, no. I am broadcasting on Nest Mini speakers. I can broadcast to all but not to one specific speaker.

Hi EduardvNiekerk,

Thanks for responding. Could you please try these commands?

OK Google / Hey Google ...

  • "Broadcast to [device name] [message].”
  • "Broadcast to kitchen display, is dinner ready yet?"

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

Hi

mid I do that, all speakers get that message. Remember, I am in the Netherlands. Is that service working here?
