Can 2 paired for stereo google speakers join a group?

I've tried this in the past to no avail but thought I would bring it up again to see if it might have been fixed.

I know the Sonus lawsuit has slowed down improvements in Google Audio however is it starting to get better? What is the plan?

I want to set up a true surround sound living room with 4-5 Google speakers (mixed types) to use for viewing my Google chromecast with Google TV with full 5 channel sound.
