My shopping list will not update via google home, error is “Sorry something went wrong when I trying to change your list.” Lists can be created and listed but no item added.  Problem ongoing for about 3 weeks.

I can also ask to add an item to a non existent list,  I will be asked if I want the list created,  I say "yes "and List is created with item added,  But still can't add further items to that list with same error.

Hi John_77,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that you’re not able to add or update items to the shopping list via Google Home for about three weeks, and you got the error message "Sorry, something went wrong when you’re trying to change your list." I’d be happy to help!

To better investigate the inconvenience, I’d like to ask the following:

  • What is the specific model of your Google Home device that you have? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify the model of your device.
  • Is the Google Home device powered correctly?
  • Is your Google Home set up on your WiFi network?
  • Is your Google Home properly linked to a Google account?
  • Are you using a mobile device that has the same Google account as your Google Home?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

Let me know if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Happens on Multiple Devices (including a routine to add something to list triggered on phone), personal results is working fine.  It was working for many months after migration of list to Keep.    You can tell its set up fine, If I ask for something to be added to a NEW list then will ask me if I want to create list. It Creates new list and Adds that initial item to list,  But will still have same error if I try and Add another item.  (This is a Google Workspace account)

Hi sykesk,

Thanks for the reply!

I deeply appreciate the information you provided. This helps us better investigate the main cause of why the Google Assistant isn't able to add more items to the shopping list.

Based on the information, it seems like you have a Google Workspace account. In this case, the Google Workspace account may need permission from your Workspace Administrator to access the data stored in Google Keep. This will enable voice queries to work with Google Keep, allowing you to create, update, and delete your notes and lists using the Google Assistant. For more information, you can check out this article: Shopping Lists & Notes are moving to Google Keep.

Keep me updated.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
